Manchester Disc Golf are proud to announce we’re hosting an Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament on the 21st January 2016!
Ice Bowl tournaments are an annual international series of events designed to get disc golfers out playing in the worst of weather whilst raising money for Food Banks / Homeless charities at the same time. Players raise money by playing in the cold for those that don’t have a warm home to go back to.
In 2016 Ice Bowl raised a record-breaking £280,000 across 219 events held worldwide and we’re proud to host the first UK-based Ice Bowl in 10 years!
Our nominated charity is Coffee 4 Craig – a Greater Manchester based charity that provides street kitchens and, critically, works to provide long term solutions to those in need to end homelessness. We’re proud to support this important charity and hope in a small way we can help their critical work.
We’ll be announcing details of registration soon. The tournament is a one-day tournament with a singles tournament in the morning, a stew for lunch, some side competitions followed by a fun doubles Pro-Am tournament in the afternoon. The focus will be on fun – complete beginners or those that have never played at a Disc Golf tournament are very welcome, you’ll be randomly paired with a pro in the afternoon to take part in a fun tournament with special rules to ensure both the pro and the am shots count with the pressure off!
Saturday 21st January 0830hrs (for a strict 0900hrs tee-off – light will be a factor!).
Awards and prize giving ceremony held at 4pm.
Evening do: There will be evening drinks in Chorlton after too (as it’s the small matter of MDG’s very own Scouse Phil’s birthday too!).
